Happy Quarter Three Third Grade!

Dear Terrific Third Grade Parents,

We hope this message finds you well, warm, and filled with joy! As we embark on the second half of the school year, we want to express our gratitude for your ongoing support and collaboration.

It's incredible to witness the growth, enthusiasm, and curiosity our students have displayed so far. The journey ahead promises even more excitement and learning opportunities.

Here are some important dates to mark on your calendar:

STAAR Practice Tests 

Dates: February 7th and 12th. Makeup days will be provided for students who are absent. This is a chance for students to show what they know and an opportunity for us to see what they need some more help in. 

Viking Celebration

Date: Thursday, February 8th 

A chance to celebrate our Viking unit with crafts, games and snacks! An email with further details and a Signup will be sent out on Thursday, January 18th at 4:00pm 

Field Trip to the Witte Museum 

Date: Thursday February 29th 

Get ready for a day full of exploration and fun! We encourage parent volunteers to join us on this memorable trip. An email with further details and a Signup will be sent out on Thursday, January 25th at 4:00pm 

This Week at a Glance 

Math 

Mathmagician: Students will engage in two additional Mathmagician lessons each week from now until the STAAR. This takes the place of Reading/Typing time on Tuesday and Wednesdays. It will be a time for targeted math help based on the results from our first Interim STAAR test. 

Multiplication Magic: In our usual Math classes, students will explore the strategies and techniques behind multiplying two-digit numbers by one-digit numbers. We'll engage in interactive activities, problem-solving challenges, and real-world applications to solidify their understanding. 

History/ Science 

Get ready for a thrilling journey through time as we embark on our upcoming unit – The Vikings! We're excited to announce that we'll be delving deep into the fascinating world of Viking history in the coming weeks.

To make the most of this exciting exploration, we're introducing a slight change to our schedule. Starting this week, we will begin alternating between one full week of History and one full week of Science. 

We believe this new schedule will enhance the overall learning experience and provide students with the opportunity to dive deep into each subject. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out.

Literature 

We will continue to explore the world of  myths, folktales, and legends. Don't forget to grab the next Classic to Keep, The Jungle Book by Rudyard Kipling before January 29th.

Important Reminders:

• Please ensure your child has all necessary supplies.
• Check and sign your child's homework and graded work folder regularly.
