Marvelous March!

 Dear Third Grade Parents,

As we march into the month of March, we have some important dates and updates to share with you regarding our classroom activities and events.

Academic Highlights:

  • In Writing, we will continue to explore persuasive writing techniques to express our thoughts and opinions effectively.

  • Our Grammar lessons will focus on different kinds of verbs, helping students understand the function of action verbs, linking verbs and helping verbs in sentences.

  • In History, we will dive into the fascinating world of North American explorers, learning about their adventures and contributions.

  • In Science, we are wrapping up our unit on weather and will soon embark on a new journey exploring forces, including those related to light and sound.

  • In Math, get ready for an exciting unit on fractions! Keep an eye out for a letter home with a sneak peek at what we'll be learning.

Literature:

  • We're thoroughly enjoying our read-aloud sessions of  Trumpet of the Swan by E.B. White and look forward to more engaging discussions.

  • Please ensure your child has their copy of The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry by April 15th for our upcoming literary exploration.

Academic Skills:

  • Across all subjects, we are focusing on enhancing reading comprehension and fostering thoughtful responses through our Close Reading strategies and RACE responses (Restate, Answer, Cite, Explain).

Important Dates:

  • Spring Break: March 11th-15th (No School)

  • Art Show: March 22nd from 5-7 pm. We invite you to join us and celebrate the artistic talents of our students.

  • Grandparents Day 2nd and 3rd Grade: March 26th. We look forward to welcoming grandparents to our classroom for a special day.

  • Holiday Reminders: March 29th is Good Friday, and Easter Monday falls on April 1st (provided we don't have any bad weather days between now and then). 🐰

Thank you:

  • A special thank you to all the parent chaperones who joined us on our field trip to the Witte and parents who sent in water and coolers! Our third graders had a “dino-mite” time learning through play and we could not have done it without you!

  • Thank you to all third grade parents for partnering with us to create a supportive learning environment where our scholar’s can thrive!

If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out. Let's make March a month filled with learning, exploration, and fun!

Warmly,

GHNO Third Grade Team 🌻
