Traffic Reminders:
- DO NOT MOVE YOUR VEHICLE IF CHILDREN ARE WALKING/LOADING IN FRONT, BESIDE OR WITHIN ARMS LENGTH BEHIND YOUR VEHICLE.
- Unfortunately, we are still having issues on a daily basis with vehicles moving while students are close enough for an accident to happen.
- NO CELL PHONES in the school lots.
- Listen to music, a podcast, something hands free so your eyes can be up and alert.
- Help us keep your kiddos and everyone else safe. Plus then you get to see all the smiling faces!
- 3rd grade's wave time is 3:45 PM. We do not have time to pack-up during the day and must use the first 10-20 minutes of dismissal. If you arrive early, please be patient and willing to wait for your scholar.
General Reminders
- The school day starts at 7:50 AM. Please have students to the school with enough time to be unpacked, have their homework turned in, and be in their seats by 7:50 AM. Any homework not turned in by the tardy bell will be counted as late. For every 3 tardies, students receive a lunch detention.
- For any absences or late arrivals, contact the school AND the teacher. If you are planning to pick your student up early or arrive late due to an appointment, please inform your student's teacher with ample notice and send a doctor's note with them the next day.
- Unexcused Absences - Students have as many days to make up missed material as they were gone. Teachers are not required to provide work ahead of time for planned unexcused absences. Students may not be able to make up all assignments missed if they are not independent work grades.
- Students need to bring a water bottle daily.
- 3rd grade has snack during Literature. If you choose to, please send your student with a nutritional snack.
- Supplies Needed:
- All students are expected to have a copy of the grade level Classics to Keep. They need this to follow along in Literature and to reread as needed. We are almost half way through the book.
- Practice your students addition and subtraction facts for 20 minutes each night if they have already finished their math homework before they leave school.
- In 3rd grade, students should expect 45 minutes of homework each night, NOT including the 20 minutes of reading. Please be advised that students have around 30 minutes during the school day to work on math homework. If they are coming home with nothing completed, please have a conversation with them about using the homework time wisely.
- Math - 25-30 minutes - If your scholar has worked the best they can, and that you know they can, for 30 minutes on math homework and are still not done, please draw a line and sign off. It will not be counted against the student, but depending on how much they didn't do, they will stay for homework club to get the needed practice.
- Spalding - 15 minutes. This may be done at school if your student's teacher dictates the words during dismissal.
- Extracurricular activities such as sports practices or music lessons are not an excuse for incomplete homework. Homework will be counted as late.
- Students should be reading a minimum of 20 minutes daily. Reading Logs are sent home Monday and will be a weekly homework grade. These logs are checked daily so please send to school in your student's take home folder. Students need to fill out their own reading logs.
- Parents need to sign off on the reading log that their child read a minimum of 20 minutes. Parents should be signing behavior charts as well. Both will be in the Take Home Folder and are checked daily by the teacher for completion.
- Your student's RAZ Kids account can count towards reading!
- Your student writes their homework in their agenda daily. Please refer to it for the assigned homework.
